Jhon and his partner

It’s one of those reviews where you want to keep the place hush hush, but actually it warrants all that it’s due. Marco is the perfect host and delivers hospitality in abundance. His communication throughout was as reassuring and confident as you would wish. Old Noar itself is stunning. 4 floors of tasteful comfort, style filled with thoughtful touches, history and references to local and Sicilian culture. The house is simply beautiful. The gardens offer 5 more spaces that are tended to with great care and consideration. Each garden offers a unique experience in which to enjoy Old Noar. The village itself offers the same hospitality that Marcos provides. Locals are warm, hospitable, generous and so attentive. The views around the local area are spectacular, which includes the drive on both roads in and out of the village. The local restaurants, bars and shops cater for everything you would need. I can’t rate Old Noar highly enough. It’s idyllic and provided us with a great opportunity to unwind and relax. If you are looking at Old Noar as a consideration for a trip you plan, book it. You will not regret it. It’s stunningly wonderful.

Really Special Place

It's hard to include all the wonderful aspects of this accommodation, the Orlando family and the town of Navara di Sicilia in one short review as there were so many highlights and I can only echo the the other great comments left in the reviews for this property. OldNoar itself is just as, if not better than the pictures show. The family have restored the property and its gardens with great care and attention to detail, retaining and highlight its many traditional features as well as furnishing it to the highest of standards making it a luxurious and comfortable home. Some highlights within the home were the large, high pressure shower, the medieval bed with high quality linen and well equipped kitchen. Outside the four terraced gardens continued the high standard of furnishing and attention to detail as well as housing a great variety of fruit trees, plants and herbs which we were welcomed to use.. the fresh figs were amazing! We were greeted by Andrea and his mother and later by Marco and I can honestly I have not come across a family that have so enthusiastically and generously welcomed us to there home and to the town. They obviously take great pride in there home town and went out of they're way to make us feel welcome, provide us with personalised information about excursions and local areas of interest and to ensure that we had everything that we could need for our stay. We were provided with a huge array of home grown and local produce on our arrival, quite unlike any welcome package I have come across and included fresh plums, figs and citrus fruits, homemade jams, olive oil and vinegar as well as local cheese, bread, salami, biscotti, coffee, wine and beer! The town of Novara, has the most wonderful views and sunsets and the high situation provides a lovely cool breeze which we welcomed in the heat of summer. The people we met from the town, including our neighbors were all friendly, welcoming and helpful and the town has a real community feel to it providing an authentic experience of Sicilian life away from the bustle of the tourist towns but yet within easy driving distance to then so we could enjoy the best of both experiences. We took day trips to Etna, Milazzo, where we enjoyed the pools of venus, Taormina, Catania and we visited the Aeolian Islands too, taking an over night trip to hike on Strombolli. We stayed for 10 nights and would return in a heartbeat. Thank you to the Orlando family for your warm welcome and for ensuring our stay was extra special.

An Extraordinary Setting

This beautiful and charming home provided a perfect base to explore the wonderful town of Novara. The nearby countryside offered beautiful walks and opportunities for exploration. We picked figs and grapes and harvested herbs in the gardens of this gorgeous property. Cannot say enough positive things about Marco and Andrea from a generous welcome to assistance in locating local (and long lost} family. The people of Novara made our stay into a life changing experience. Truly in awe of their rich history and the simple beauty of this place - views that stretch from the mountains to the sea and public sculpture that any major city would envy. Wow.

In conclusione, ci siamo sentiti molto fortunati a stare qui e ci torneremmo sicuramente!

Hidden treasure

Our family of four, with two daughters of 9 and 7, had the most pleasant stay at OldNoar. The house was renovated a few months ago, with very good taste. The pictures speak for themselves. The shower has excellent pressure and the hot water is abundant. The sheets are not "industrial", they are uniquely hand made. The view from our master bedroom was gourgeous, with the imposing view of Rocca Salvatesta above us, a stunningly beautiful rock that dominates the town of Novara di Sicilia. The kids room was also very nicely decorated, with a heavenly smell of fresh lavander that comes from the herbs garden. There is also a room with a couch and TV and a fully equipped kitchen, with a second restroom. A washing machine is conveniently located there, for those who opt for a longer stay. We were given plenty of fresh towels for our three days stay. Andrea graciously welcomed us and made some home made orange, kiwi and lemon jams available for us, along with a bottle of mineral water and fresh lemons, that we had for breakfast. Oil, vinegar, salt, sugar and other basics were available. Yes, the breakfast was one of the moment we enjoyed most: in the pictures you can see what I am talking about. There are three terraces at different levels, with grass, and above those there is an outdoor space where we had our breakfast, enjoying the views and the peace of the garden. Beyond the garden there is a mill, still functioning thanks to the water that flows in a stream at the bottom of the valley where the house is located, and the visit to the mill alone was worth the trip (see different review). From the terrace you can enjoy views of the island of Salina. In the garden Andrea grows some vegetables that we were welcome to pick and taste, along with several herbs, from citronella to basil to mint, and many others. Andrea was instrumental in giving us top quality advices. The visit to Argimusco, the Sicilian Stonehenge, was above our expectations, and hiking in the Bosco di Malabotta, with the views of Etna and of the Ionian sea, was another peak of our stay. Andrea himself is a scientist at the University of Catania, with very high communication skills. His field of interest is Astrophysic and he has posted some excellent videos on youtube on the Argimusco area. The town of Novara deserves its reputation as one of the "most beautiful small towns in Italy", and we loved strolling in its narrow streets and visiting his several churches. In conclusions, we felt very lucky to stay here and we would definitely return!

It is a really magnificent place!

A medieval village somewhere close to light blue sky with old churches and narrow streets-and very hospitable citizens who mainly speak only Italian but are ready to help you in any way. And the young hosts are a very talented couple who made their house a unique masterpiece of modern design! We are very glad to meet you! Thanks a lot!

Esperienza e posto incantevoli

Grazie a tutti e buone Feste

Excellent house with an amazing atmosphere

We enjoyed every minute of our stay. The house is in excellent condition and has a very pleasant atmosphere. A quiet beautifull garden where you can eat, or relax. From the garden one can see Tindary and the sea (+/- 30 minutes drive). Shops are on walking distance and the locals are friendly. So is the host. We received a warm welcome, the house and garden were shown to us with pride. This is thé place to be if you want to live among the locals in a typical Sicilian village.
