Novare et traditions
Located between the Nebrodi and the Peloritani mountains, it is part of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Already Pliny in Roman times mentions it with the name of Noa, but traces of prehistoric settlements are evident in Casalini and Sperlinga area.
In 2000 BC the Cyclops lived in Grottazzi.
The Saracens in the 9th century built the Castle, which is today a ruin.
In 1171 Sant'Ugo under the dominion of Ruggero II built the first Cistercian Convent in Sicily.
